Duodenal Atresia

What is Duodenal Atresia?

Duodenal Atresia is where the beginning part of the small bowel (the duodenum) is closed, or potentially not present, disallowing stomach contents to pass freely throughout the rest of the intestinal tract.

If not treated, this condition can be fatal.

Treatment

Surgery is necessary to repair Duodenal Atresia, at which point recovery can normally be expected.
