Renting a Breast Pump

Renting a breast pump is a very important part of expressing milk for a baby.  Mothers with a preterm infant will often find themselves unable to breastfeed, due to their baby’s prematurity.  regardless of the circumstances, renting a breast pump is a tremendous asset in the care and feeding of a baby.

The best type of breast pump would be a hospital-grade pump, that has a dual collecting kit, which enables the pump to collect breast milk from both breasts at the same time.  These are generally electric, but there are some that run on batteries as well.  These types of breast pumps are comfortable, and generally very easy to use.

By using the dual breast pumps, the mother’s breasts are stimulated to produce as much breast milk as possible.  Pumping four or five times a day will help produce more breast milk as well.

Where to Rent A Breast Pump

Breast pumps can be rented from hospitals, lactation specialist, and pharmacies.  In the hospital, make sure to ask if there is a lactation nurse available, and they should be able to rent out a breast pump themselves, or at least point the mother in the right direction for renting a breast pump.
